parsons action scheme Lang Fellowship Symposium: Alexa Riggs | Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts

This past summer six Lang undergraduates ( http://www.newschool.edu/lang) received financial support and mentoring to participate in research and internship experiences with a nonprofit or government agency as a means to explore their academic, personal, and professional interests in the area of social justice. The fellows will provide short presentations on their summer learning experiences.

Alexa Riggs graduated in May of 2013 with a BA in Interdisciplinary Science and Psychology, and a minor in Gender Studies. While at Lang, Alexa received the Interdisciplinary Science Outstanding Senior Award and the David S. Woods Award for Humanitarianism, and founded a student organization dedicated to LGBQTI justice. As a Hunt Foundation Fellow, she interned at the Clinical Directors Network, a nonprofit that provides primary car to medically underserved populations and continuing education to the clinicians who serve them. She is currently a Program Research Coordinator of a clinical trial focused on chronic pain associated with cancer at Beth Israel Medical Center's Pain Medicine and Palliative care department. She plans to pursue graduate work in public health with specific focus on social epidemiology.
